Rabinovich, Joseph

   Bessarabian missionary. He was active in Kishinev. Initially attracted by the Haskalah, he joined Hibbat Zion in the 1880s and visited Palestine. In 1883 he founded a sect known as the Children of Israel of the New Testament, which accepted the tenets of Christianity while retaining Jewish nationalism and traditions. Two years later he converted to Protestantism. His writings include Prayers and Principles of Faith of the Children of Israel of the New Testament and Words of Comfort.
